The Environmental Health Lab is a subdivision of the Environmental Health unit, which is responsible to test various food samples, water and environmental health swabs of all kinds.

Importance of Environmental Health Lab :

The Environmental Health Lab has a pivotal role in the operation of the Environmental Health unit. The KKMCH Environmental Health Lab may be considered the most advanced one among those in military hospitals in KSA.

Role of Environmental Health Lab :

  • Collecting environmental health swabs as well as food samples from various food processing and retail places for bacteriological testing.
  • Collecting random samples from dry and canned food supplies intended for military troops use for physical and bacteriological testing.
  • Collecting and testing environmental health swabs and food samples in of food poisoning incidences.
  • Conducting routine periodical water tests for water samples obtained from all over the military city, which may be simple field tests and/or detailed lab tests.
  • Conducting periodical water tests for the hospital recreation center swimming pool water.
  • Conducting periodical water tests for the water used in the hospital hemodialysis unit.
  • Conducting bacteriological tests for environmental health swabs obtained from the hospital by the infection control nurse.
