The School Health unit is one important unit of the Preventive Medicine department, which is responsible for the safety and sound health of the school students within KKMC.

 



Health education at schools

 

 

Treating minor injuries and ailments in the school clinic by the school health nurse



Positive cooperation and active liaison between the school health coordinator and school administrations for better results for the school health program


About the School Health Program in KKMCH :

  • There are 16 schools, for boys and girls, within KKMC, 9 of which are elementary stage schools, 5 intermediate stage and 2 secondary stage.
  • The school health coordinator is a physician supervising this program.
  • There are a number of male and female nurses running the school health clinics daily.
Role of School Health Unit :
  • Health education for students, including health education lectures given by the school health coordinator as well as the school health nurses at schools. This is in addition to health education posters posted at various locations at schools and health education pamphlets distributed.
  • Inspection of school health environments and reporting periodically.
  • Inspection of school canteens and giving suggestions and instructions for better practices.
  • Treating minor injuries and ailments of students at the school health clinic.
  • Providing first aid in case of emergencies pending transfer to the nearest health center or hospital emergency room.
