  Paediatrics  
  The Department has recently commissioned an enlarged Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.  This development, together with our two dedicated inpatient Wards, Outpatients Clinic and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, provides an excellent range of facilities in which practitioners can care for their patients.  
   
     
 

Consultant Paediatricians, Neonatologists and Residents are involved in a range of educational activities and the department currently holds the Chair of the Hospital Medical Records Review Committee.

 

The Department provides sub-specialty Paediatric services including cardiology, neurology, nephrology and neonatology.

Medical staff are organized within a departmental structure with each main faculty lead by a Chief of Department who is a practicing Consultant.

Chiefs of Department are accountable to the Medical Director and there is an established Medical Executive Committee to discuss matters of Medical Administration

Departmental Activity:

 
 

Continuing education, training and committee functions are well represented within the Department of Medicine.  The Department holds the Chair of the Hospital Infection Control Committee, is represented on the Medical Executive, Education and Research Committees.

 

There is also an active Journal Club and members of the department are frequent contributors to the Hospitals Continuing Medical Education Program.   Outpatients are seen in our dedicated Clinic and the department has an active Quality Program

 
     
   
 
The Department of Medicine provides a wide range of sub-specialty and specialist services that are listed below.   Consultant medical staff are responsible for their  Residents and Registrars and dedicated Male and Female Wards are situated on the upper floors of the Hospital.

Services include:

  • Internal Medicine

  • Haematology

  • Gastroenterology

  • Endocrinology

  • Pulmonology

  • Cardiology

  • Psychiatry

  • Nephrology

  • Dermatology

  • Infectious Disease

Facilities include:

  • Haemodialysis Suite

  • Endoscopy Suite

  • Diabetic Centre

  • ICU

 

 
Surgeons at the Northern Area Armed Forces Hospital have the opportunity to become involved in a wide field of activities ranging from education and training, theatre users group, disaster response and policy development.   We are supported by first class diagnostic facilities including MRI, Spiral CT and nine X-ray Rooms as well as a full Clinical Pathology Department.

  The Department of Surgery provides surgical treatment and care through a full range of surgical sub-specialties that include:

General Surgery

  • Neuro-surgery

  • ENT

  • Orthopaedics

  • Plastic Surgery

  • Ophthalmology

  • Urology
